How to export a GPX file from Strava
Strava keeps the recorded track of every ride, and the website hands it over as a GPX file in three clicks. The phone app can't do it — this is a desktop-browser job.
Open the ride on the Strava website
Sign in at strava.com in a browser and open the activity you want — from your profile or the training log. On a phone, use the browser too: the Strava app has no GPX export.Open the ⋯ actions menu
On the activity page, click the ⋯ (more actions) button below the activity title, on the left side of the page.Choose “Export GPX”
The .gpx file lands in your downloads, named after the activity. That's the whole recorded track, with elevation and timestamps.
Good to know
Exporting many rides
Strava's bulk archive (Settings → My Account → Download or Delete Your Account) sends everything by email — but as the original recordings, mostly .fit and .gpx.gz, which need converting before use as GPX. For a handful of favorite rides, per-activity export is the faster, cleaner route.
Routes vs. activities
A planned Route exports the same way from its own page — the ⋯ menu offers Export GPX there too. An activity is what you actually rode; a route is the plan.
Now give the file a home.
Drop the GPX into Pedaltales and it becomes a tour on your map — beside every trip you've ever done. Free, no ads, and no account to connect: the file is all it needs. With a few tours in, make one picture of all of them.
